Taseco Group Expands into Renewable Energy with Proposed VND 22 Trillion Solar Power Projects in Lai Chau
Taseco Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee to explore investment opportunities in solar power projects with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW, marking a significant step toward expanding its business portfolio into the renewable energy sector.

On June 30, 2026, Taseco Group Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee to cooperate in researching, surveying, and proposing investments in solar power projects across the province.
The signing ceremony took place during the Lai Chau Investment Promotion Conference 2026. Under the agreement, the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee will facilitate Taseco Group's research, surveys, and investment proposals for solar power projects with an expected total capacity of approximately 1,000 MW and an estimated investment of VND 22 trillion. The projects are proposed for implementation during the 2026–2030 period.
This move marks Taseco Group's expansion into exploring investment opportunities in renewable energy, complementing its existing business operations in real estate and non-aviation services.
Under the MOU, Taseco Group will proactively conduct research, surveys, and assessments of the potential and feasibility of the proposed projects. The Group will also develop investment proposals aligned with Vietnam's Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), the Lai Chau Provincial Master Plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, and other relevant plans approved by competent authorities. In addition, the Group will explore the application of advanced technologies to promote efficient resource utilization, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
According to the Lai Chau provincial authorities, investments in renewable energy projects are expected to help unlock the province's potential, attract private investment capital, strengthen energy security, and support the transition toward clean energy, while contributing to local socio-economic development.
At the same conference, Lai Chau Province issued 19 in-principle investment approvals, representing a total registered investment capital of more than VND 27.7 trillion, to 18 investors, including VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company, Northwest Wind Power Joint Stock Company, and Than Uyen Wind Power Joint Stock Company.
The province also signed and presented 19 memoranda of understanding covering 31 areas of investment cooperation, with total committed capital exceeding VND 172 trillion. Participating enterprises included BIM Energy Group Joint Stock Company and Northwest Pumped Storage Hydropower Joint Stock Company, among others.
After more than two decades of development, Taseco Group has established a diversified business ecosystem comprising 29 member companies and more than 2,300 employees, with charter capital of VND 1.35 trillion and total assets exceeding VND 14.5 trillion.
The Group currently operates across several sectors, including real estate, industrial infrastructure, non-aviation services, aviation infrastructure, and financial investment.
Within this ecosystem, Taseco Land (HOSE: TAL) focuses on real estate development and industrial infrastructure. The company currently has charter capital exceeding VND 5 trillion and total assets approaching VND 17 trillion. Its diversified project portfolio spans urban developments, residential properties, commercial real estate, resort developments, and industrial parks.
In the industrial real estate segment, Taseco Land is expanding its investment portfolio across key locations in northern Vietnam. By the end of 2026, the company expects to have an industrial land bank of approximately 671 hectares, providing a foundation for future growth amid ongoing global supply chain shifts and continued foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.
Meanwhile, Taseco Airs (HOSE: AST) currently operates more than 120 business outlets at airports across Vietnam. The company provides a wide range of services, including retail, food and beverage, business lounges, advertising, air logistics, airline catering, and duty-free retail through a joint venture with a Japanese partner.
The move to explore solar power investments in Lai Chau reflects Taseco Group's strategy to diversify its investment portfolio by adding renewable energy alongside its existing business sectors. Should the proposed projects proceed as planned, renewable energy could become a new growth avenue for the Group, as Vietnam accelerates clean energy development and the implementation of its Power Development Plan VIII.
